Consider enrolling in the Master Gardener Volunteer program. Since 1979, the NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ program has recruited, trained, and engaged people to serve as volunteer educators who strengthen Extension’s delivery of science-based horticultural knowledge to North Carolinians. The First Reformed UCC is located in the heart of downtown Lexington runs a community garden where residents are welcome to join in the ministry to grow food for their neighbors. Much of the produce harvested at this community garden is given to Pastor’s Pantry. If you are interested in volunteering, contact First Reformed UCC.

The Baptist Children’s Home Community Garden is the newest community garden in our network. This year is their first season. You will find Master Gardener volunteer, Susan Turbeville volunteering at Thomasville Farmers Market and recruiting volunteers, when she is not working in the garden. The garden this is year is smaller in size as the community learns and grows together. Slowly, this community garden endeavors to build its soil, build the team of volunteers to eventually garden ¾ of an acre available of vegetables and fruit to donate to those in need.
