DIRECTORY GUIDELINES
We provide free listings in the Local Food Guide for local farmers and producers. To protect the integrity of our guide and ensure it truly highlights our region’s agriculture and craftsmanship, we only include products that are locally sourced. Items made from mass-produced or imported materials, such as those from overseas manufacturers, are not eligible. Our goal is to keep the guide focused on products that genuinely support and strengthen the local food system.
Free Local Food Guide Text Listings
The Local Food Guide provides free text listings for local farms, food producers, and select value-added agricultural businesses that strengthen the regional food system. The primary focus of the guide is to connect the community with businesses involved in growing, raising, producing, or processing local food and agricultural products.
Because space is limited, free listings are generally reserved for agriculture and food-related businesses. Craft vendors and artisans may be considered only if their products are closely tied to local agriculture or are made primarily from locally sourced farm products or materials.
You could also add a simple eligibility note like this:
Priority for Free Listings
Farms and ranches
Food producers and processors
Bakeries using local ingredients
Value-added agricultural businesses (jams, honey, dairy, etc.)
Agricultural products made from locally sourced materials
Not Eligible for Free Listings
General craft businesses with no direct connection to local agriculture
Resellers or wholesale vendors
Mass-produced or imported goods
Businesses whose primary products are not food or agriculture-related
This wording makes it clear that the guide's mission is centered on local agriculture and food systems while giving you flexibility to limit free craft listings. It also leaves room to offer paid advertising opportunities to craft vendors if you choose.
