DIRECTORY GUIDELINES
We provide free listings in the Local Food Guide for local farmers and producers. To protect the integrity of our guide and ensure it truly highlights our region’s agriculture and craftsmanship, we only include products that are locally sourced. Items made from mass-produced or imported materials, such as those from overseas manufacturers, are not eligible. Our goal is to keep the guide focused on products that genuinely support and strengthen the local food system.
Eligibility Requirements
Local Sourcing
Products must be created using ingredients, materials, or resources grown, raised, or produced within the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
Example: Yarn spun from locally raised sheep or goats, baked goods made with NC-milled flour, soaps made with local honey or goat milk.
Authenticity of Production
All food and craft products must be made, grown, or produced directly by the individual or business listed.
Resale of items not produced locally or mass-produced products is not permitted in this section.
Transparency
Producers must be able to clearly identify the local sources of their ingredients or materials upon request.
Example: Listing the farm that supplies milk for cheese or the local orchard providing apples for jam.
Geographic Focus
Priority is given to producers who source from within Davidson County and the surrounding Triad region.
Exceptions may be considered for items with limited local availability, provided they are significantly transformed into a value-added product locally.
Alignment with Mission
All listings must support the mission of DCLFN to connect consumers with local farmers, food producers, and craft makers who strengthen our regional food system.
Examples of Acceptable Listings
Fiber artist using wool from locally raised sheep.
Soap maker using goat milk and herbs from nearby farms.
