Celebrating Our 2026 Summer Intern
This summer, Davidson County Local Food Network had the pleasure of welcoming Hailo to our team. Throughout her internship, she worked alongside our Food Hub staff and gained hands-on experience with many of the moving pieces that keep our local food system running.
From assisting with produce pickups and deliveries to organizing products, preparing produce bags for community programs, and helping with day-to-day food hub operations, Hailo had the opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes to connect local farmers and food with our community.
She also spent time supporting our local farmers markets, where she assisted farmers with loading and unloading, helped with market activities and programs, interacted with customers, tracked attendance, and helped share information about programs such as Rainbow Bucks and SNAP Double Bucks.
Throughout the experience, Hailo was able to explore more than just the physical operations of a food hub. She gained exposure to community outreach, events, website and product content, food access programs, and some of the planning and organization that goes into operating a nonprofit and local food network.
One of the most rewarding parts of offering opportunities like this is watching someone become more comfortable and confident as they gain real-world experience. During her time with us, Hailo had opportunities to strengthen her communication skills, take greater initiative, work independently, and learn how to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-moving environment.
We were also happy to support Hailo as she prepared for her next professional step, and we're excited that she was able to finalize a new job opportunity as her time with us came to a close.
We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to have Hailo join us and be part of DCLFN this summer.
