A Locally Rooted Thanksgiving at Piedmont Fresh

November 20, 2025 Jessica Rogers

As we approach the holiday, we’ve noticed a few new faces in our community—so welcome to DCLFN! We’re excited you’re here with us as we build a stronger, healthier local food system. Before you carve the turkey and gather around the table, here’s a little update + inspiration from the hub.

Thanksgiving Hours & Delivery

  • Our food hub, Piedmont Fresh, will be closed this upcoming Thursday for Thanksgiving.

  • To ensure you still have access to fresh local goods, our delivery will take place on Wednesday instead.

  • We’re not sharing photos or announcements about the new building yet—this request is purely for planning interior design and updating our website timeline, so please send the images if you have them!
(You can insert a small reminder/call‑to‑action here for the images.)

Local Food on Your Table

This Thanksgiving, consider leaning into the bounty of the Piedmont region. Choosing local produce supports our farmers, shortens the supply chain, and often gives you fresher, more flavorful options.

What’s in Season Right Now in the Piedmont (NC)

According to North Carolina seasonal produce guides:

  • Leafy greens like kale, collards and Swiss chard are in full force.

  • Root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, turnips and beets are peaking.

  • Winter squashes (butternut, acorn, spaghetti squash) are abundant.

  • Apples and pears remain in season in many parts of NC.

Quick tip: For your holiday table, think roasted sweet potatoes with fresh herbs, a medley of winter squash, or a crisp salad of local greens with apples/pears and maybe a drizzle of local honey.

Gifting & Holiday Bundles

At Piedmont Fresh we’re also celebrating the season of giving. We have gifting items available—soaps, jams, herbs, microgreens and more. You can either pick a ready‑made gift or create your own custom gift basket at home using:

  • Some of our soaps or wellness products

  • One or more jams/preserves

  • Fresh produce, herbs or microgreens

  • And don’t forget: we have eggnog available on the website too—perfect for dessert inspiration.

These baskets make thoughtful gifts that highlight local producers and support our food community.

Thanks for being part of our network. Enjoy the time with friends/family, savor the flavors of our local farms, and maybe consider gifting a basket of local goodness. We’re thankful for the vibrant food community we’re building together in Davidson County.

A Local Feast: Your Thanksgiving Meal Plan with Piedmont Fresh

A Local Feast: Your Thanksgiving Meal Plan with Piedmont Fresh

Thanksgiving is almost here, and we’ve got everything you need to make your holiday table shine—without leaving your community. From locally raised turkey to fresh veggies, artisan breads, and indulgent desserts, here’s how to plan a feast that’s 100% Piedmont Fresh.

The Star of the Show: Turkey

Start with a broad-breasted turkey from Sunflower Hill Farm LLC. These robust 9–11 lb turkeys are perfect for a smaller, more manageable feast while still delivering all the flavor of a traditional Thanksgiving centerpiece. Roast it simply, or try your favorite herb and butter rub to make it shine.

Savory Sides & Breads

  • Breads: For a hearty, rustic loaf, grab the Country Hearth Sourdough from Rabble and Rise Baking Company. Want something lighter? Their Lemon Rosemary Bread is the perfect fragrant side.

  • Pesto Perfection: Crossings Farm Basil Pesto is incredibly versatile. Use it as a dip, toss it with roasted veggies, or mix into a pasta salad for a fresh, herby flavor.

  • Fresh Greens: Anders Family Farm has crisp cabbage perfect for white or red slaw, plus mixed lettuces for small, refreshing salads. Top with Sunflower Hill or Crossings chicken tenders/strips for a protein-packed option.

  • Seasonal Veggies: Don’t miss the cherry tomatoes from Anders Family Farm, rare and bursting with flavor this time of year. Purple sweet potatoes from Sunflower Hill Farm are ideal for baked sweet potatoes with butter, sugar, and a dash of cinnamon—or crisp sweet potato fries.

  • Classic Favorites: Make deviled eggs with Crossings Farm chicken eggs for a true Thanksgiving staple.

Desserts to Savor

Finish your feast with sweet treats from our local bakers:

  • Rabble and Rise Baking Company: Cookie and Brownie Party Box, Kahlua Sour Cream Coffee Cake, ChocFulls Cookie Stack, Peanut Butter Cookie Stack, Vanilla Nut Trio Granola

  • SandyCreek Farm: Peanut Butter Protein Balls, Fig Sweet Bread, Artisan Flatbread Crackers

  • Homeland Creamery Ice Cream Pint (new!): Chocolate, Pumpkin Brulee, Strawberry, Vanilla

  • Eggnog & Ice Cream: Perfect for rounding out your holiday meal or enjoying a sweet treat anytime

Whether you’re leaning into a full-tilt traditional Thanksgiving spread or building a lighter, veggie-driven table, Piedmont Fresh keeps it effortless to shop local, support nearby farms, and cook with ingredients that actually taste like something. Farm-fresh flavor hits different—richer, brighter, and downright divine.

These are just a handful of the goodies we offer. The full lineup is waiting for you on the Piedmont Fresh Food Hub website, and it’s a feast all its own. Browsing it is basically a tiny field trip across the region’s farms.

When you reserve your holiday favorites, you’re not only stocking your kitchen with high-quality, locally sourced foods—you’re strengthening local food access and directly supporting the farmers who grow for our community.

The season tastes better when it’s grown close to home, and the story continues with every bite.

Corporate Box Programs: A Healthier Workforce Starts with Fresh, Local Food

Creating a thriving workplace doesn’t begin with a memo or a meeting. It starts with something much simpler: making it easier for people to nourish themselves. That’s where Piedmont Fresh’s Corporate Box Programs come in.

This Food-as-Medicine approach brings seasonal, local produce straight to your team—supporting employee wellness while strengthening our local farm community.

A Wellness Benefit That Works on Every Level

Companies everywhere are looking for benefits that actually improve the daily lives of their employees. Fresh food tends to do that quietly but powerfully.

Healthy, energized employees are more productive, more focused, and more engaged. And when businesses invest in their team’s well-being, the ripple effects show up everywhere—from workplace morale to long-term healthcare savings.

At the same time, every box supports the farmers who keep our region fed. It’s a wellness benefit that does double duty: nourishing people and sustaining local agriculture.

How the Program Works

Piedmont Fresh builds a produce box program tailored to your company’s needs. Businesses can choose an 8- to 16-week delivery schedule, with weekly boxes packed with a rotating lineup of seasonal fruits and vegetables from local farms.

Need more variety? Add-ons like eggs, bread, and local proteins can turn each box into a complete farm-fresh experience.

To make healthy eating easy and enjoyable, we also offer optional recipes, wellness tips, nutrition notes, and personalized messages from your company—simple touches that add meaning to every delivery.

Why Employers Are Saying “Yes”

Organizations who’ve adopted this model see benefits beyond the box itself. They’ve noted:

• Higher employee engagement
• Better focus and energy
• A stronger culture of wellness
• Reduced long-term healthcare costs
• A clear investment in sustainability and equity
• A competitive edge in attracting and retaining talent

It’s a small shift that adds up to big impact.

Ready to Bring This to Your Workplace?

Supporting employee wellness and local agriculture doesn’t have to be complicated. The first step is simply exploring what a customizable, seasonal produce program could look like for your team.
