Volunteer with Piedmont Fresh Food Hub

October 20, 2026 Jessica Rogers

Volunteer with Piedmont Fresh Food Hub

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Piedmont Fresh Food Hub! Our volunteers play an important role in helping us support local farmers, improve access to fresh, locally grown food, and keep our food hub running smoothly.

As a volunteer, you will primarily assist Jordan, Food Hub Operations Director, or Thomas, Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator, with daily food hub operations. Tasks may vary depending on the needs of the day and may include:

  • Riding along with Jordan or Thomas to pick up produce and other products from local farmers.

  • Assisting with food access programs and preparing food for distribution.

  • Helping with minor administrative tasks and organizational projects.

  • Cleaning and maintaining the workspace to keep it safe, sanitary, and organized.

  • Waiting for and assisting with producer drop-offs and organizing incoming products.

  • Supporting other tasks related to the daily operations of a food hub.

Volunteer Attire and Expectations

Because our work involves handling food, moving products, traveling to farms, and working in a warehouse environment, appropriate attire is essential.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required for safety while working in the food hub and handling products.

  • DCLFN or Piedmont Fresh T-shirts are requested so volunteers can be easily identified as part of our organization when working with farmers, partners, and community members.

  • Please wear comfortable, appropriate clothing that allows you to move safely and participate in a variety of tasks.

  • Volunteers are expected to follow staff instructions, practice good hygiene, treat our farmers and community partners respectfully, and help maintain a clean and safe working environment.

A Team Effort

Food hub work involves a variety of tasks, and each day may look a little different. Some days may involve traveling to farms and moving fresh products, while others may include organizing inventory, assisting with food access initiatives, completing administrative work, or waiting for scheduled producer deliveries.

Flexibility, a willingness to help, and a positive attitude go a long way! Every task contributes to our mission of strengthening the local food system and making fresh, local food more accessible throughout our community.

We appreciate the time and effort our volunteers contribute to Piedmont Fresh and the Davidson County Local Food Network. Your support helps us serve our farmers, partners, and neighbors.
