Fancy Plants Farmstead

Fancy Plants Farmstead is a family-owned flower and herb farm operated by sister-in-laws Leslie Cash and Sarah Shuman. Rooted in a shared passion for gardening, sustainable growing practices, and community connections, the farm specializes in naturally grown fresh-cut flowers and herbs that bring beauty, fragrance, and seasonal charm to homes throughout the region.

The farm's name originated as a family joke, as Sarah was affectionately nicknamed "Fancy Plants" for her meticulous approach to seed starting and growing. What began as a lighthearted nickname soon blossomed into a business built on a love of cultivating plants and sharing that passion with others. Together, Leslie and Sarah combined years of gardening experience and a desire to help connect their community with locally grown products, leading to the creation of Fancy Plants Farmstead.

Committed to growing in harmony with nature, Fancy Plants Farmstead uses practices that support healthy soil and sustainable production. Their flowers and herbs are grown naturally, with a focus on nurturing the land while producing high-quality, seasonal products. The farm reflects their belief that local food and flower systems are essential to building stronger communities and healthier environments.

Beyond growing flowers and herbs, Leslie and Sarah are passionate about encouraging others to learn where their food and flowers come from. They enjoy sharing knowledge about gardening, local agriculture, and the benefits of supporting local growers. For them, the garden is more than a place to grow crops—it's a place of creativity, peace, and connection.

Customers can find Fancy Plants Farmstead each week at the Lexington Farmers Market and through Piedmont Fresh, where Leslie and Sarah enjoy meeting customers and sharing the beauty of locally grown flowers and herbs with their community.
